Liquified Petroleum Gas, or LPG as it is more commonly known, has been a well-received alternative fuel to petrol or diesel, since it's inception into the British market. Most vehicles which run on LPG are Bi-Fuel or Dual-Fuel vehicles. Although diesel LPG dual fuel vehicles are available, it is petrol which has become the dominent fuel to be coupled with LPG. The main reason for this is that converted petrol engines can run solely on LPG, whereas a converted diesel engine runs on a mixture of diesel and LPG. When burnt in an internal combustion engine, LPG produces virtually nil exhaust emissions, making it an ideal choice of fuel in this envoronmentally-conscious age. For this reason, vans, cars, buses and lorries which are powered by LPG are usually granted exemption from inner-city congestion charging schemes.
